Upload from Box - Phase 2 Complete! 🎉

Date: October 29, 2025 Session: Phase 1 + Phase 2 Complete Status: UI Integration Complete ✅ | Upload Processing Pending ⏳

Executive Summary

Successfully completed Phase 1 (Core Components) and Phase 2 (UI Integration) of the "Upload from Box" workflow. The interface is now functional and ready for users to:

Enter a Box Folder ID
Load and parse files with V2 naming convention
View validation status for each file
Select files for upload
See tracking IDs and clean filenames

Progress: 70% Complete Remaining: Upload processing implementation

What Was Accomplished This Session

Phase 1: Core Components ✅ (Completed Earlier)

✅ MetadataMerger class (merge master + filename)
✅ BoxFileRetriever class (Box folder operations)
✅ DAM Lookup Domains documentation (182 domains)

1. Upload from Box Tab

Location: workflow_v3.php (new 4th tab)

Visual Components:

User Flow:

1. User enters Box Folder ID (e.g., 348304357505)
2. Clicks "Load Files"
3. System fetches files from Box
4. Parses each filename (V2 convention)
5. Displays validation status (✅/❌)
6. User selects valid files
7. Clicks "Upload Selected Files"

2. File List Table

Columns:

☑️ Checkbox (disabled for invalid files)
📄 Filename (with clean filename preview)
🏷️ Tracking ID (parsed from filename)

📊 Size (formatted KB/MB)
🔗 Actions (View in Box link)

Validation Display:

How It Works

Complete User Flow

Step 1: Load Files from Box

User enters Box Folder ID → Clicks "Load Files"
  → AJAX request to box_list_files
  → BoxFileRetriever lists files
  → FilenameParser parses each filename
  → Returns files with validation status
  → JavaScript displays file table

Step 2: Select Files

User reviews validation status
  → Selects valid files (checkboxes)
  → Invalid files are disabled
  → Upload button shows count

Step 3: Upload (Placeholder)

User clicks "Upload Selected Files"
  → JavaScript collects selected files
  → Shows upload progress container
  → Displays placeholder message
  → (Actual upload logic pending)

Behind the Scenes (When Upload Implemented)

For Each Selected File:

1. Extract tracking ID from filename
2. Load master metadata from PostgreSQL
3. Parse filename components
4. Merge master + filename metadata (filename wins)
5. Build asset representation JSON
6. Strip OMG Job Number & Tracking ID from filename
7. Download file from Box to temp
8. Upload to DAM with AssetUploaderSimple
9. Clean up temp file
10. Report success/failure

Known Limitations & Considerations

1. Upload Processing Not Implemented

Status: Placeholder shows selected files but doesn't upload Next Step: Implement uploadFromBox() function Complexity: Medium - requires combining multiple classes

2. No Metadata Preview/Edit UI

Status: Not yet implemented Impact: Users can't see or edit merged metadata before upload Next Step: Add metadata preview modal/section

3. No Progress Tracking

Status: Placeholder progress display only Impact: Users won't see real-time upload progress Next Step: Add progress bar and status updates

4. No Error Recovery

Status: No retry mechanism Impact: Failed uploads require manual intervention Next Step: Add retry logic and error recovery

5. No Batch Optimization

Status: Files uploaded sequentially Impact: Large batches will be slow Future Enhancement: Parallel uploads
